Zen quote: Poco a poco
“There is a beautiful expression in Spanish, poco a poco, little by little. Our life is always poco a poco, and the way we practice poco a poco is zazen. In each moment, in each little step by step, the Buddhadharma is completely revealed. So little is not little, it is boundless.”
— Bernie Glassman
It is also a musical notation in Italian instructing a musician to slowly increase or decrease the intensity of the music over time.
Here is another Glassman quote that I found to be meaningful:
“It’s a myth that spiritual people are not attached, that they're somehow above the trials and tribulations of ordinary life. Not only are they affected by things, they're tremendously affected by them. For rather than living in the realm of ideas and feelings about suffering, they live in the realm of action.”
